The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is organising a commemoration of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The Museum will be holding two events on the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of the Ghetto Uprising:

• The screening of “Superhuman Medicine” on 19 April at 6pm, a monodrama performed by Maja Komorowska and directed by Waldemar Dziki, based on the memories of Adina Blady-Szwajgier, a pediatrician in the Warsaw Ghetto and a liaison in the Jewish Fighting Organisation. The screening will be followed by a meeting with the actress, hosted by the film critic Tadeusz Sobolewski.
• A concert of Sinfonia Varsovia on 21 April at 8pm. The orchestra will be performing works by Mieczysław Weinberg, Władysław Szpilman, Richard Addinsell and a premiere execution of a composition by Jerzy Maksymiuk, who will conduct the orchestra himself.

The official ceremony commemorating the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, organised by the Social and Cultural Society of Jews in Poland, will be held at the Ghetto Heroes’ Monument on 19 April at 12.
The Daffodils Campaign will also include the uncovering of a mural by the Centrum underground station, created by Andrzej Wieteszka, which can be seen until 23 April. It features people connected with the uprising: Marek Edelman, Paweł Frenkel, Cywia Lubetkin, Mordechaj Anielewicz and Szymon “Kazik” Ratajzer.
1000 volunteers have joined the campaign this year. They will be handing out yellow paper daffodils in the streets of Warsaw. A similar number of schools, libraries and cultural institutions will take part in the campaign all over Poland.
Daffodils symbolise the memory of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. They are connected with Marek Edelman, one of the commanders of the Jewish Fighting Organisation (ŻOB), who would receive daffodils from an anonymous person on each anniversary of the uprising and who would himself lay yellow daffodils at the Ghetto Heroes’ Monument on 19 April.
